Garden of Hope, Project Dignity Detroit

Leonard and Daniel….. at Garden of Hope, Project Dignity Detroit.
These are just 2 of the wonderful human beings that come out to the feeding every Sunday.
They have a name and each have a story.

Leonard is a forgotten Veteran but he is always smiling.
I pray to God he makes it through the harsh winter.

Daniel is also a Veteran and he’s suffering from a very rare Liver disease and NO it’s not from Alcohol.
If he’s lucky, he has a little over 1 year to live.
He was offered to be put on the transplant list, but refused it.
He says that he’s lived and a transplant should go to someone younger then him who hasn’t had the good fortune of living 61 years, that’s how old he is.

They are both more positive and have better spirits then many people I know.
I don’t believe they come for the hot meal, I believe they come for humility and dignity and an ear who will listen to them.
They also come for the hugs.
